💦Paradise💦at Rock River

The Hike

Once you have arrived at the parking lot, the hike begins. Start by crossing Route 30 to the southern side. Make your way to Williamsville road and start walking up the right side. You will see a small side road on the right called Station Road. Follow Station Road until it turns into a hiking trail. Station Road kind of appears to be a driveway at times. Trust that you are going the right way. You will pass between some houses and eventually emerge onto a dirt trail. As long as the river is on your right, you are going the right way.

The first beach you come to is called Family Beach. This is not the spot. You will see a sign on a tree that says 'Clothing Optional Beyond This Point.' Keep going!

This section is some of the most treacherous hiking. In particular, there are some really steep, rocky parts that may be active waterfalls. Take it nice and slow :)

The terrain will start to lower to the level of the river. Eventually, you will see a rocky clearing by the river at the bend shown in the picture. This is the third beach. You will likely see some naked people enjoying the river. The people here were super sweet to us. This is a fun place to hang out and the river here is swift and deep so it makes for exciting swimming. But, this is not your final destination.

There is a staircase that goes up the hill near third beach. Climb to the top and continue on the ridge. You will encounter another staircase on your right which descends back down to the river. This is where you will need to wade into and cross the river.

On the other side of the river, follow the path upstream. Stay low near the river and you will hit the sandy beach. This is where we will likely be. Drop off your stuff, go for a swim, chat with the locals. Beyond the sandy beach are some tents and other spots to set up your stuff, a little away from the crowds.
